Job summary

Amazon Music is seeking a Principal Applied Scientist to shape the applied science roadmap for catalog and search, impacting millions of customers worldwide. You will work at the intersection of large-scale content systems, applied science, and foundation models to build an intelligence layer on Amazon's vast music and podcast catalogs.

You will lead cross-team efforts across the music catalog, search, and data systems, drive experiments, mentor senior engineers, and balance short-term delivery

Qualifications

• PhD, or Master's degree and 10+ years of applied research experience
• Experience working in content understanding systems in digital media
• Experience building applied science solutions on top of foundational models

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of applied science solutions for large-scale music catalog systems using foundational models.
• Define and execute the technical roadmap for Amazon Music catalog and search teams.
• Design experiments leveraging music content to improve search, personalization, and recommendations.
• Drive engineering excellence across three teams with design reviews and standards, mentoring staff.
• Identify risks and balance immediate deliverables with long-term architecture.
