Job summary

Amazon Science in New York seeks a Principal Applied Scientist to lead the scientific vision for performance measurement across Amazon Ads. You will guide a multidisciplinary team in ML, causal inference, NLP, and generative AI, delivering models and products that quantify ad spend impact and optimize advertiser portfolios.

You will mentor senior scientists, shape roadmaps, and collaborate with engineers, product managers, and external researchers to advance the state of the art in ads

Qualifications

• 7+ years of hands-on work in predictive modeling and analysis.
• PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Experience distilling informal customer requirements into problem definitions, dealing with ambiguity and competing objectives.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.

Responsibilities

• Driving the scientific vision of the teams in your organization and advising on performance measurement models and products.
• Identifying and tackling innovative solutions to hard, previously unsolved problems.
• Bringing clarity to complex problems, probing assumptions, and guiding towards effective solutions.
• Serving as a thought leader in modeled measurement in Ads and engaging with the broader scientific community.
• Leading science and design reviews, aligning teams around algorithmic strategies.
• Guiding the career development of others and mentoring the applied science community.
