Job summary

EchoStar in Colorado is seeking a Principal Android Engineer to lead the architecture and roadmap for a enterprise Android application. You will drive robust media playback, observability, and AI-assisted development workflows across device fleets.

The role requires 10+ years in software engineering with leadership on Android apps, Kotlin and modern Android stacks, and experience with ExoPlayer/Media3. In-person interviews are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including leadership on Android applications.
• Experience leading production-scale Android architectures.
• Strong knowledge of media playback and streaming protocols.

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical architecture and long-term roadmap of the enterprise Android application, modularizing the codebase to support rapid feature deployment and system scalability.
• Establish a core observability foundation with real-time metrics, logging, crash telemetry, and field analytics to improve reliability across devices.
• Drive media playback performance and streaming reliability across the fleet using advanced frameworks and adaptive protocols.
• Integrate AI-assisted development tools and automated workflows into the engineering lifecycle to increase team throughput and code quality.
• Provide technical leadership and cross-functional alignment across product, backend, and partner engineering teams.
