We are seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Principal Analytics Engineer to join our data team. You will be responsible for bridging the gap between data engineering and data analysis by building robust, scalable, and well-documented data models that enable data-driven decision-making across the company.

You’ll work closely with engineers, analysts, data scientists, and business stakeholders to transform raw data into clean, reliable datasets, ensuring consistency in metrics across reporting platforms. This is a key opportunity to shape how data is leveraged in a highly regulated and data-rich domain.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with data engineering, analytics, product, and marketing teams to define and align on strategic data initiatives, ensuring that business needs are met with robust, future-proof data solutions.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on data modeling, driving adoption of macros, packages, reusable patterns, and CI/CD integration to increase development velocity and reliability.
• Support the design and evolution of scalable, reliable, and maintainable data models and transformation pipelines with a focus on enabling analytics and operational intelligence at scale.
• Support architectural standards and establish best practices for data modeling, testing, and governance across analytics engineering workflows.
• Mentor and guide other analytics engineers in modeling principles, performance optimization, and data documentation to elevate the technical capability of the team.
• Identify and resolve gaps in our data architecture, working across teams to address technical debt and improve system resilience and scalability.
• Champion a strong data quality culture through the implementation of automated tests, lineage tracking, and proactive monitoring.
• Contribute to and enforce documentation standards, metric definitions, and semantic consistency across data models and business units.
• Continuously evaluate new tools, frameworks, and design patterns that could enhance our analytics stack and lead implementation when appropriate.
  
  

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in an analytics engineering, data modeling, or business intelligence role.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with modern cloud-based data platforms (e.g. Snowflake), data transformation tools (e.g. dbt), and data ingestion tools (e.g. FiveTran).
• Familiarity with Git and version-controlled data workflows.
• Ability to communicate complex data concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A strong understanding of data governance, lineage, and data contract principles.
• Strong attention to detail and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
  
  

Preferred Skills

• 7+ years of experience in an analytics engineering, data modeling, or business intelligence role.
• Experience with dbt (modular SQL, Jinja, testing, documentation, macros).
• Knowledge of reporting tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
  
  

Experience with Python for scripting and automation
