Job summary

Meta Reality Labs seeks a principal-level AI Systems Engineer to define the hardware architecture strategy for next-generation AI-accelerated computing powering virtual and augmented reality products. You will shape the long-term silicon and systems roadmap for on-device AI inference and training workloads across wearables, headsets, and spatial computing platforms.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of hardware systems architecture experience focused on AI/ML or HPC.
• Experience defining SoC or system-level architecture for AI inference/training workloads.
• Experience building system performance models and evaluating architectural trade-offs at scale.
• Proven record driving multi-year hardware architecture roadmaps and silicon strategy.

Responsibilities

• Define and own the multi-year architectural roadmap for AI compute subsystems across Meta's hardware products.
• Lead system-level architecture exploration for AI inference and training accelerators, including memory hierarchy and interconnect design.
• Drive cross-functional alignment to translate AI workloads into hardware specs.
• Develop architectural models, performance simulators, and analytical frameworks.
• Identify and resolve bottlenecks across the AI compute stack from NN operators to microarchitecture.
• Set technical direction for AI hardware platform decisions and integration strategies.
• Partner with ML researchers and compiler teams to co-design hardware-software interfaces.
• Represent hardware architecture in executive reviews and author architecture records.
• Mentor engineers across hardware and systems disciplines.
• Evaluate emerging AI workloads and compute paradigms to inform future investments.
