Position Overview

The Principal AI/ML Engineer will support the development of AI/ML algorithms across various disciplines including object detection/classification, natural language processing, reinforcement learning, and large language models.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of developers and researchers to implement machine learning algorithms for diverse challenges.
  • Apply Large Language Models (LLMs) to applications in remote sensing, such as tasking collections, identifying gaps, analyzing patterns of life, etc.
  • Fine-tune foundation models and build adapters for new applications (e.g., llama factory, PEFT).
  • Use retrieval augmented generation (RAG) techniques to populate and query vector databases (e.g., Weaviate).
  • Build custom applications with LLM frameworks like LangChain, DSPy.
  • Deploy LLM solutions across cloud and local resources using Kubernetes (llama.ccp, vllm, etc.).
  • Analyze large multi-domain datasets to identify relevant features and build actionable models.
  • Review current publications to incorporate cutting-edge concepts into defense and commercial projects.
  • Communicate technical status with internal and external leadership.
Required Qualifications
  • BSc in machine learning, computer science, mathematics, or related fields.
  • 10+ years of experience in software development or data science, with 2+ years building LLM applications.
  • Experience with fine-tuning foundational models, prompt engineering, retrieval augmented generation, LLM frameworks, AI APIs, deployment frameworks, and UI development.
  • Leadership experience with interdisciplinary teams and project management.
  • Proficiency in Python and relevant libraries (PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.).
  • Active TS/SCI U.S. Government Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS or PhD in relevant fields.
  • Experience in computer vision, including object detection, transformers, GANs, reinforcement learning, and pattern-of-life algorithms.
  • Knowledge of ML libraries (HuggingFace, LangChain), CV libraries (OpenCV, Nerfstudio), Linux, AWS, and additional programming languages (Java, C++, Rust, Go, C#).
  • Experience with GPU programming, application deployment, virtualization, containerization, and remote sensing datasets.
  • Proposal writing experience.
Location
