Job summary

TENEX is hiring a Principal AI Engineer to design, develop, and optimize scalable AI systems for AI-native cybersecurity. This role requires onsite work Monday through Thursday at multiple locations with Fridays work-from-home. You will mentor engineers and shape architecture while aligning with product and customer teams.

LOCATION: US-based. The candidate should have 10+ years in software, expertise in LLMs, and a track record of building production-grade AI solutions for security operations.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience.
• Hands-on in agents, orchestration frameworks, and evaluation harnesses.
• Strong microservices, containerization, and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Experience with API design and scalable architectures.
• Clear, concise communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design & build the AI layer powering autonomous detection and remediation.
• Develop and productionize large-scale LLMs and graph-based reasoning engines.
• Own evaluation, reliability, latency budgets, and safety measures.
• Mentor AI engineers, lead design reviews, uphold code quality.
• Collaborate with Product, Detection Eng., and Customer Success.
• Experiment with retrieval-augmented generation and multi-modal models.
