Job summary

Rite of Passage is seeking an Education Director for Silver Oak Academy, a Type 1 Special Education Non-Public School in Keymar, Maryland. The role oversees Educational Services, policy implementation, curriculum development, and budget management to promote student growth and staff development.

The candidate will lead the Education Department, guide instructional objectives, and collaborate with faculty to meet school program needs.

Qualifications

• Maryland Special Education Certification or Maryland professional certificate as supervisor/principal.
• At least 3 years of satisfactory teaching experience in general or special education.
• Master’s degree in special education, School Administration or closely related field.
• Administrative experience developing curriculum and fostering productive workplace.
• Minimum 5 years of staff supervision experience preferred.

Silver Oak Academy is located on a scenic 78-acre campus surrounded by sprawling corn fields, beautiful woods full of local wildlife and foliage, a football stadium, an athletic center (gymnasium, padded wrestling room, a fully equipped weight room & more), a Tech Center, and an academic building all just a short commute from Frederick, Baltimore & DC. At Silver Oak Academy, we will be providing services to high school students in a Type 1 Special Education Non-Public School.

Pay: starting at $90,000 depending on experience and education.

What you will do

The Education Director I acts in an advisory capacity to the Site Director in all matters pertaining to Educational Services. He/She serves as the chief administrator of the Education Department in developing and implementing policies, programs, curriculum activities, and budgets in a manner that promotes the educational development of each student and the professional development of each staff member. The Education Director ensures that instructional objectives for a given subject and/or classroom are developed and involves the faculty and others in the development of specific curricular objectives to meet the needs of the school program. The Education Director reports to the Program Director and supervises staff in Education, Vocation and Resource, Information Technology and the Athletic Director.

To be considered you should

• Must possess a Maryland Special Education Certification OR possess a Maryland professional certificate as a special education supervisor or special education principal.
• Must have at least 3 years of satisfactory teaching experience in general or special education.
• Master’s degree in special education, School Administration or closely related field.
• Successful administrative experience in developing curriculum, fostering a healthy work environment to stimulate a positive and productive workplace,
• Demonstrated success in court/community/alternative education settings in all areas of program implementation.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise, work with and support staff and students in an alternative school environment. A minimum of 5 years of staff supervisory experience preferred.
  • Be able to pass a criminal background clearance check, physical exam (including TB test) and drug screen.
