Job summary

Blue Cross NC is seeking a Principal Actuary to provide advanced actuarial analysis and technical support for complex rating, pricing, valuation and financial forecasting. This role partners with actuarial teams and supports Network Management, Underwriting, and Sales and Marketing.

The position may include team leadership on assigned projects. The ideal candidate has ASA/MAAA credentials, 5+ years of related experience, and deep knowledge of health insurance economics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or advanced degree where required.
• ASA and MAAA memberships are preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in related field.
• In lieu of ASA, alternate actuarial credentials may be considered.
• In lieu of 5 years of experience, Fellows of the SOA (FSA) may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Actively contributes to the success of the Actuarial Services team.
• Handles highly complex actuarial modeling.
• Leads and/or provides consultative support to assigned projects and is viewed as an expert in the field.
• Assists in Rating/Pricing and develops/maintains rating models.
• Performs Medical Trend analysis and supports Administrative Expense factor development.
• Conducts Experience Studies and Rating Factor Studies.
• Supports Rate Filing development and Financial Forecasting.
• Collaborates with FP&A on Plan forecast for assigned segments.
• Supports Network Management and evaluation of provider contract changes.
• Assists Underwriting, Sales and Marketing, and new product development.
