Job Duties and Qualifications

The Principal Accountant, External/SEC Reporting, plays a critical role in ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of external financial information for Halliburton.

The position works closely with the Investor Relations department to support the preparation of earnings releases, corporate presentations, and other materials presented to securities analysts, investors, and industry groups.

Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

1. Work directly with the External Reporting Supervisor to ensure the completion of team tasks and responsibilities; this role provides developmental opportunities for learning supervisory skills.
2. Assist in supervising others, including providing basic training and guidance to team members and leading discussions regularly; demonstrate leadership capabilities.
3. Compile, prepare, and review analyses, schedules, and data for the company's SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, 8-K) using SEC filing software (Workiva).
4. Lead the preparation and review of the company's quarterly earnings release, including supporting workpapers.
5. Assist with the company's quarterly earnings call script by providing thorough review and communication with Investor Relations and upper management.
6. Research, perform, and resolve activities involving complex accounting reports, analysis, and internal controls.
7. Communicate and collaborate with other departments and business units to resolve financial issues.
8. Create, update, and review supporting schedules for financial statements and disclosures.
9. Prepare and review disclosure checklists under US GAAP and other standards, such as MD&A.
10. Lead the completion of XBRL for SEC filings using Workiva.
11. Assist in reviewing the company's proxy statements and other public presentations like press releases and investor presentations.
12. Coordinate audit requests with external and internal auditors.
13. Participate in routine and special projects, including ad-hoc requests and process improvements.

Qualifications:

• Undergraduate degree in accounting, business, or related field, with at least five years of experience in accounting roles.
• Experience in SEC filings is required; familiarity with XBRL, Workiva, and Hyperion systems is preferred.
• Willingness to work overtime during filing periods to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Pro.
• Knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting standards.
