Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) located in scenic Upstate NY is a multi-campus College with locations in Troy and Malta New York. HVCC offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs in three schools: Business and Liberal Arts; Health Sciences; and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. Candidates will need to complete a background and reference check and be approved by Civil Service prior to appointment.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTS: Candidates must have been legal residents of New York State for at least FOUR months immediately preceding the date of the test. Pursuant to subdivision 4a of Sec. 23 of the Civil Service Law, preference may be given to successful candidates who have been legal residents of the municipality to which the appointment is to be made for at least FOUR months preceding the date of the written test.
This is a probationary appointment depending on the hire date under the NYS HELPS program.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or possession of a High School Equivalency diploma and four years of experience in maintaining financial accounts and records, two years in a supervisory capacity, or four years of generalized clerical experience plus the experience indicated above, or an equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits stated above. Experience with Microsoft Office products and Ellucian’s Banner and Elevate preferred.
DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES: The Principal Account Clerk performs work under general supervision allowing leeway for the exercise of independent judgment in carrying out assignments in accordance with definitely defined procedures. The Principal Account Clerk reports to the Director, department head or program director and performs the following duties:
