An established industry player is seeking an energetic and friendly individual to join their team as a Camp Counselor. This seasonal role involves delivering engaging recreational activities for children while ensuring their safety and well-being. Deliver high quality recreation services for residents, visitors and the St. Charles community by adhering to the District’s safety and administrative policies and procedures.
This position is well suited for someone who is friendly, energetic, and interested in assisting and engaging children in interactive recreational and educational activities. Must be willing to work with livestock, including large animals. Should be able to work and communicate effectively with campers, parents, and farm staff. Must be available for the entire 9-week farm camp program.
Required: Must be at least 21 years of age. A strong background in education/childcare/coaching, knowledge of face-to-face program delivery, and a valid driver’s license. Work/volunteer record that shows reliability, initiative, and good interpersonal skills. Must have or complete Mandated Reporter and CPR/First Aid certification within 30 days of hire date (training provided by district). Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred: At least two years of higher education in the field of education, recreation, or similar is preferred with at least one year of experience in a related field. A minimum of one year in a supervisory role and one year as a day camp counselor or similar position preferred.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Superintendent of Parks and Planning, the Assistant Superintendent of Outdoor Education, the Manager of Farm Programs and Interpretive Services, and the Farm Programs Supervisor, the Primrose Farm Camp Counselor shall complete all assigned duties to the best of their abilities, offering suggestions of better ways to accomplish jobs and be ever mindful of the best interests of the St. Charles Park District and of fellow employees.
