Job summary

Texas Biomedical Research Institute in San Antonio seeks a Clinical Veterinarian to support the care and management of nonhuman primate colonies at SNPRC, and smaller populations of other species. The role includes diagnosis, treatment, preventive health programs, disease surveillance, analgesia and anesthesia, and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will work with a team of veterinarians, participate in off-hours rotations, review protocols, advise on animal models, and contribute

Qualifications

  • D.V.M. or V.M.D. from AVMA-accredited school and US licensed.
  • USDA accreditation required or obtainable.
  • ACLAM board certification or eligibility preferred.
  • 3+ years of NHP laboratory animal care experience, primates preferred.
  • Texas licensure preferred; DEA license eligible.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive clinical care for NHPs and other species.
  • Implement preventive health programs and disease surveillance.
  • Administer analgesics/anesthetics and participate in DEA program.
  • Perform surgical and post-surgical care; contribute to clinical rounds.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with Animal Welfare Act and SOPs.
  • Collaborate with investigators and review study protocols; advise on animal models.
