Job summary

Newport Healthcare in Washington, Port Townsend, seeks a dedicated Primary Therapist to join our clinical team and deliver compassionate, evidence-based care to youth and families.

You will facilitate individual, family, and group therapy, coordinate family orientations, perform risk assessments, maintain precise documentation, and collaborate across disciplines to guide treatment plans and ensure safety throughout the continuum of care.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field required or enrolled in Doctorate program.
• Board registration (LMHCA, LICSWA, AMFT) or Psychologist Associate in the state is required; licensed highly preferred.
• Experience with individual, family, and/or group therapy with young adults/adolescents.
• Experience with mental health, substance abuse, eating disorders, or trauma-informed treatment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate individual, family, and group therapy sessions using the program model.
• Act as primary clinical contact for families and ensure proactive communication.
• Lead Family Orientations, Welcome Presentations, and Family Support Groups.
• Perform risk assessments and develop safety plans at admission and document biopsychosocial assessments.
• Collaborate with the treatment team to set and monitor treatment goals and 30-day reviews.
• Maintain accurate clinical records: assessments, progress notes, discharge summaries.
• Conduct crisis or risk assessments and implement appropriate interventions.
• Attend weekly treatment team meetings, staff gatherings, and clinical supervision.
• Represent Newport Healthcare at professional meetings and trainings.

What You’ll Do

At Newport Healthcare, we are dedicated to transforming lives through integrative and holistic mental health treatment. We are currently seeking a passionate and skilled Primary Therapist to join our team!

Role Overview:

As a Primary Therapist, you will play a crucial role within our clinical team, providing meaningful therapy that makes a real difference in the lives of our clients. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Therapeutic Facilitation: Facilitate individual, family, and group therapy sessions using Newport Healthcare’s unique clinical model and the principles of Attachment-Based Family Therapy.

• Family Liaison: Act as the primary clinical contact for families, ensuring clear and proactive communication throughout the treatment process to enhance family involvement and support.

• Family Orientation Coordination: Lead Family Orientations, Welcome Presentations, and Family Support Groups to create a structured and supportive environment for families navigating the treatment process.

• Comprehensive Assessment: Perform risk assessments and develop safety plans upon admission, followed by thorough biopsychosocial assessments and treatment plans, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.

• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the treatment team to establish and monitor treatment goals, participating in regular 30-day treatment plan reviews to ensure alignment and progress.

• Documentation Management: Maintain precise and up-to-date clinical records, including assessments, progress notes, and discharge summaries, in accordance with organizational standards.

• Crisis Intervention: Conduct risk or crisis assessments and implement appropriate interventions to manage acute situations effectively.

• Team Engagement: Participate in weekly treatment team meetings, staff gatherings, and clinical supervision to promote a collaborative and supportive team environment.

• Organizational Representation: Represent Newport Healthcare at professional meetings, trainings, and conferences, advocating for our mission and clinical practices within the broader community.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• Master’s Degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field or enrollment in Doctorate program from an accredited or state approved graduate school required
• Board registered (LMHCA, LICSWA, AMFT) or Psychologic Associate in the state in which services are provided required. Licensed Highly Preferred.
• Experience with individual, family, and/or group therapy with young adults/adolescents.
• Experience with mental health, substance abuse, eating disorders, or trauma-informed treatment preferred.

Compensation for this role ranges from $38.79-$55.81 per hour depending on education, licensure and experience.
