Patients and their families rely on Compass Health Center when in crisis – every day, we help people overcome depression, anxiety, suicidality, obsessions/compulsions, trauma, chronic pain, and other obstacles in order for our patients to live freely.

About This Role

As a Primary Therapist in the Over-18 Eating Disorders Program, you’ll work thoughtfully with our patients to develop and implement their individualized treatment plans. This role will consist of conducting individual therapy meetings, providing secondary support for meals and snacks, collaborating with patients’ outpatient teams, and leading patients through their overall treatment program. You’ll partner closely with the entirety of our treatment teams, including Registered Dietitians, Group Therapists, Family Therapists, and Psychiatry Team Members to ensure comprehensive and compassionate care.

Compass is proud to be a trailblazer within the future of behavioral health, offering fully virtual PHP/IOP programs to patients across the entire state of Illinois. Our virtual programs meet the needs of modern healthcare, providing flexibility for both patients and clinicians while increasing access to fundamental care.

What You'll Do:

Assessment and Formulation

  • Complete initial intake evaluations to determine diagnosis and appropriateness for program
  • Build and maintain transdiagnostic case formulation based on maintaining mechanisms throughout course of patient’s treatment
  • Sequence treatment using program’s treatment target hierarchy

Individual Treatment

  • Deliver individual therapy with evidence-based eating disorder interventions (e.g., CBT-E, exposure therapy, CBT-AR), integrating ERP, DBT, ACT, and other interventions for eating disorders and co-occurring conditions
  • Assign individualized homework, including design, assign, and debrief individual exposures
  • Identify and address accommodation and safety behaviors

Care Coordination

  • Serve as case lead for the treatment plan, coordinating the work of Registered Dietitians, Group Therapists, Family Therapists, and prescribers
  • Participate in interdisciplinary treatment rounds
  • Partner with Family Therapist on family involvement
  • Utilize Compass’s Evidence-Based Assessment system to monitor progress and guide treatment planning
  • Coordinate with outpatient providers and complete aftercare handoff

Medical and Risk

  • Monitor medical status in collaboration with nursing and prescribers; recognize indicators of medical instability and elevate per protocol
  • Assess need for higher level of care, step-down, or discharge

Program Operations

  • Provide secondary (Non-RD) coverage for supported meals and snacks
  • Complete required documentation throughout treatment
  • Participate in required program training, fidelity monitoring, supervision, and consultation
  • Other duties, as assigned
Who You Are:

Credentials and Experience

  • Independently licensed as a psychologist, LCSW, LCPC, or LMFT in the state of Illinois (required)
  • 2+ years post-Master's clinical experience in eating disorder treatment (preferred)
  • Experience treating eating disorders (required)
  • Experience treating OCD, anxiety, PTSD, and/or depression (preferred)
  • Have experience in a PHP, IOP, residential, or inpatient setting

Skills and Approach (preferred)

  • Working knowledge of conceptualization of eating disorder treatment and co-occurring conditions
  • Ability to deliver interventions that reliably address maintaining mechanisms of disorders, and ability to tolerate patient distress without accommodating or reassuring
  • Practices from weight-inclusive framework
  • Adopts “all foods fit” approach towards clinical nutrition
  • Works within defined curriculum and fidelity expectations rather than an idiosyncratic model
  • Seeks and uses supervision and consultation
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to juggle multiple demands simultaneously in a fast paced and changing environment
