Job summary

Newport Healthcare is seeking a Primary Therapist to support our clinical team by conducting assessments, crafting treatment plans, and facilitating individual, family, and group therapies. The role follows Monday–Friday daytime hours and emphasizes attachment-based family therapy techniques.

Required are a Master’s degree in a relevant field and MN licensure or active pursuit of LPCC, with experience in youth/adolescent therapy and trauma-informed care.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field or enrollment in a Doctorate program.
• Minnesota License in MFT, Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology; non-licensed candidates may apply for a non-exempt role with a related Master’s.
• Experience with individual, family, and/or group therapy with young adults/adolescents; trauma-informed treatment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Family communication champion: serve as the clinical contact for families and build trust.
• Therapy facilitator: lead individual, family, and group therapy using our model and Attachment-Based methods.
• Crisis management: perform risk assessments and provide timely interventions.
• Join weekly treatment team, staff, and supervision sessions to share insights and collaborate.

What You’ll Do

As a Primary Therapist, you’ll be at the heart of our clinical team, conducting assessments, crafting personalized treatment plans, and facilitating engaging individual, family, and group therapies.

Essential Duties

• Family Communication Champion: Be the go-to clinical contact for families, ensuring proactive and open communication that fosters trust and collaboration.
• Therapy Facilitator Extraordinaire: Lead dynamic individual, family, and group therapy sessions using Newport Healthcare’s innovative clinical model and Attachment-Based Family Therapy techniques.
• Crisis Management Specialist: Conduct risk or crisis assessments and provide timely interventions and management as needed, ensuring our clients feel supported and safe.
• Team Player: Join weekly treatment team meetings, staff meetings, and clinical supervision sessions to share insights and collaborate with your colleagues.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• Master’s Degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or related field or enrollment in Doctorate program from an accredited or state approved graduate school required.
• MN License in Marriage Family Therapy, Counseling, Social Work, or Clinical Psychologist.
• Non-licensed candidates will be considered for a non-exempt role and require a Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy, or a closely related therapeutic field is required. If your degree is in a closely related field and you are pursuing an LPCC, you must demonstrate that your education meets the coursework requirements of the license, either through your own comparison or an unofficial review with the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy.
• Experience with individual, family, and/or group therapy with young adults/adolescents
• Experience with mental health, substance abuse, eating disorders, or trauma-informed treatment preferred.

Compensation

Compensation for a licensed therapist ranges from $77,000 - $100,000 depending on education, licensure and experience. Non-licensed therapist compensation ranges from $37-$44 an hour.
