Job summary

Serenity Cove Mental Health Rehabilitation Center in Los Angeles, CA invites a dedicated Primary Counselor to join our interdisciplinary team. You will assess client needs, lead individual and group counseling sessions, and implement individualized behavioral plans to support recovery and well-being.

In this role, you will document progress, participate in treatment planning, and collaborate with the Program Director to ensure compassionate, person-centered care for residents and their families.

Qualifications

• Two years of direct care experience in inpatient or outpatient behavioral settings (or equivalent).
• Two years of college coursework including behavioral health subjects.
• A combination of relevant experience and education totaling two years.

Responsibilities

• Assess client needs and conduct individual counseling sessions.
• Lead group counseling and implement individualized behavioral programs.
• Work with an interdisciplinary team under the supervision of the Program Director.
• Maintain case notes, monitor client progress, and participate in treatment plan development.

If Yes, How You Will Contribute To The Team

As a Primary Counselor, you will provide crucial therapeutic support to clients by assessing their needs, conducting individual and group counseling sessions, and implementing individualized behavioral programs. You will work cooperatively with an interdisciplinary team under the supervision of the Program Director to offer treatment options, help resolve problems, and assist clients in managing stress, mental health challenges, and other life issues. You will maintain case notes, monitor client progress, and actively participate in the development of treatment plans.

Must Have

• Two years' direct care work experience in an inpatient or outpatient behavioral setting; or
• Two years of college-level coursework including behavioral health; or
• A combination of relevant experience and education totaling two years.

Nice To Have

• Background education in psychology, sociology, social work, counseling, or related fields.
