Eastern State Hospital, located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773, with a well-intentional emphasis on community focused mental health care. This state of the art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) system, and is accredited by the Joint Commission.
ESH invites applications for the position of the PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN (PHYSICIAN II).
This position serves as a physician for primary care services, provides supervision of medical consultation services, oversees the provision of primary medical care in the facility to include the Health Services Clinic for treatment of patients and employee injuries and referrals, as well as the Admitting Physician for the Admission Suite; collaborates with the Chief Medical Officer and program staff regarding clinical and administrative program needs; ensures medical record compliance with regard to state, federal regulations, TJC and CMS standards and other accrediting bodies or agencies; and serves as an on-call physician (compensated) when scheduled and as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy and completion of an accredited / approved Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency program.
Virginia State Medical License
DEA Registration
Available to work shared on-call duties and provide onsite medical and psychiatric coverage on weeknights, weekends, and holidays. Shifts are covered by all full-time medical staff members and outside PRN practitioners. The on-call pay rate is $140/hour.
Additional Considerations
Board Certification in Internal Medicine preferred.
Experience With An Acute, Adult Inpatient Psychiatric Population Preferred.
