Job summary

WellMed, part of the Optum family, seeks a Primary Care Physician for Pharr, TX, working with a strong clinical support team and collaborating with PCPs, hospitalists, and subspecialists to deliver high-quality care in a patient-centered environment.

Clinics see 14–16 patients daily with 30-minute visits. Base salary plus annual Quality Incentive target of $50,000, plus 160 hours of PTO, 5 CME days, and 8 national holidays. Autonomy within a supportive national health care organization.

Qualifications

• MD/DO/MBBS required.
• Board certification or eligibility in Family or Internal Medicine.
• Active, unrestricted Texas medical license or ability to obtain prior to employment.
• Valid DEA license or ability to obtain prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• See 14–16 patients per day with 30-minute visits.
• Collaborate with PCPs, hospitalists, and subspecialists within Optum network.
• Deliver high-quality care with strong clinical support team.

Position Highlights

• Quality vs. quantity - typically see 14 to 16 patients per day (30 min per visit)
• Instead of RVU or volume metrics, our physicians are measured and rewarded on quality of care (most physicians earn $50,000, paid semi-annually)
• Start with 160 hours PTO in first year, plus 5 days for CME, and the clinics are closed for 8 national holidays
• Strong clinical support team that includes NPs, PAs, RNs, LVNs, MAs, nurse educators, case managers, clinic administrators, referral managers, coders, centralized scheduling, nurse advice line, and robust IT
• Collaborate with our primary care physicians (IM & FM), hospitalists, and network of employed/contracted sub-specialists

Required Qualifications

• Doctor of Medicine (M.D.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D.O.), or M.B.B.S
• Board certification or eligibility in Family or Internal Medicine
• Active, unrestricted medical license in Texas or ability to obtain prior to employment
• Valid DEA license or ability to obtain prior to employment
