Job description

The mission of Bread for the City is to help Washington, DC residents living with low income to develop the power to determine the future of their own communities. We provide food, clothing, medical care, and legal and social services to reduce the burden of poverty. We seek justice through community organizing and public advocacy. We work to uproot racism, a major cause of poverty. We are committed to treating our clients with the dignity and respect that all people deserve.

Position Profile :

Provide the full scope of primary care services which fall under his / her field of training, including but not limited to diagnosis, treatment, coordination of care, preventive care and health maintenance to patients. In addition, a Primary Care Physician is a member of the Bread for the City team. In that capacity they are expected to be familiar with the philosophy, goals and objectives of Bread and work collaboratively to achieve them.

  • Obtain health history and perform physical examinations;
  • Diagnose, treat, refer when indicated and provide preventive care to all
  • Review incoming reports (e.g. lab, x-ray, EKG) and follow-up in a timely

manner;

  • Comply with the Infection Control plan which includes personally utilizing

universal precautions;

  • Ensure compliance by support staff;
  • Participate in peer review, quality assurance, provider meetings, and other

clinical meetings;

  • Assist in updating protocols and principles of practice as requested;
  • Provide support to other clinical staff as part of a team approach to provide

quality care to patients;

  • Supervise students in training as assigned by the Medical Director.

Requirements / Qualifications :

  • Current DC medical license;
  • Current DEA certificate;
  • Board eligible or board certified in family medicine;
  • Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation certificate (CPR).
  • Ability to work with volunteers in a professional and collaborative manner;
  • Familiarity with Google Organization & Productivity Tools (Gmail, Google Docs, Calendar)

and / or ability to learn new technology;
