An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider to join their Dallas campus, focusing on pediatric hematology and bleeding disorders. Position(s): Primary Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PCPNP) with hematology experience AND/OR Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (ACPNP), Physician Assistant (PA-C)
Summary: The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) will be working in a position at the Dallas campus with outpatient bleeding disorders, hemophilia and thrombosis patients. The APP will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team within the UT Southwestern Pediatric Hematology/Oncology division at Children’s Health in Dallas to provide comprehensive care to pediatric patients as a member of the Bleeding Disorders/HAT Team managing coagulopathies. This position will also serve on the inpatient HAT Consult Service 2 weeks a month. This APP will have shared clinics as well as independent clinics the other 2 weeks of the month. This requires a high degree of critical thinking and clinical expertise in working with pediatric patients across the health care system. The APP is responsible for the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, management, education, consultation, and health promotion and care coordination for patients and families throughout the hospital system.
Licensure & Certification Requirements: Acute Care Pediatric Nurse Practitioner education and certification and recognition by the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) at a minimum PA certification and recognition by Texas Medical Board (TMB) DEA Registration for Schedules 2 – 5

Scheduling Method & Requirements: Set scheduling – full time requirement is 160 hours/4 weeks
Holiday Requirements: The APP is expected to work on holidays the clinic is open. Any UT Southwestern observed holiday the APP is working will be given 8 hours/day as a floating holiday to be used at a later date. If working on the HAT team at the time of the holiday, the APP will be expected to work and will receive 8 hours of floating holiday to be used at a later date.

Telemedicine: Advanced Practice Providers will utilize telemedicine platforms approved by the organization to extend the reach of their expertise and to increase access to care for patients and families as indicated by their division/department.

Orientation Process: Variations depend on experience. Average 4-6 months for experienced APP.
Research Expectations: Optional; opportunity for professional development within UTSW and Children’s multidisciplinary team
Communication Expectations: UT Southwestern email as a carrier for routine and non-urgent transmission of information. Staff should check email one time per shift on unit days worked. For urgent communication, team members should expect to be reached by phone.
Education Expectations: Each member should attend 1 educational conference pertinent to their area of practice annually starting in the first full year of employment. Expected to participate in QI, education, patient review meetings, as a participant and a contributor with physician mentors.
Committee Expectations: Committee participation is not expected during the initial year as a team member. Entering the second year, each member should strive to become involved in a unit-based or service-line based committee.
Mentoring: APP mentor is provided at the unit level by experienced members of the group. UTSW offers professional mentoring within the Office of Advanced Practice Provider group.
Staff Meetings: Attendance at 75% of unit-specific staff meetings.
Applicable Professional Organizations: Each member is encouraged to join a professional organization pertinent to their area of practice/certification.
