Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking an actuarial pricing specialist to analyze loss, premium, and expense data to inform rate indications and pricing decisions. You will aid in building models and tools to support sound, competitive pricing and portfolio monitoring.

This is a hybrid role with location flexibility across Madison, WI and Boston, MA campuses. The ideal candidate will have actuarial exam progress toward ACAS/FCAS, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with SQL/SAS/Python/R.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience providing customer-driven solutions.
• Basic understanding of property & casualty insurance products, pricing/rates, and industry trends.
• Basic understanding of underwriting guidelines and concepts.
• Demonstrated experience performing statistical/actuarial analysis, forecasting, and modeling.
• Proficiency in Excel; working knowledge of at least one programming or query language (e.g., SQL/SAS, Python, R, VBA).
• Pursuing Associate or Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society (ACAS/FCAS), with demonstrated exam progress.

Responsibilities

• Conducts experience analyses (loss, premium, and expense) to support pricing strategy.
• Supports competitive and market analysis; identifies trends, impacts, opportunities.
• Assists with actuarial modeling to quantify risk and pricing alternatives.
• Provides technical support for rate filings with state insurance departments.
• Supports rate review by preparing analyses for pricing meetings and stakeholders.
