Qualifications

We are seeking a motivated and analytically driven Mid-Level Pricing Actuary to join a growing Pension Risk Transfer (PRT) team. This role is integral to evaluating and pricing group annuity transactions as part of our clients' effort to support defined benefit (DB) pension plan sponsors in de-risking their plans through buy-outs and buy-ins.

This role is integral to evaluating and pricing group annuity transactions as part of our clients' effort to support defined benefit (DB) pension plan sponsors in de-risking their plans through buy-outs and buy-ins.

Responsibilities

  • Price and analyze pension risk transfer opportunities, including group annuity quotes for retiree, deferred, and active participant segments.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders (underwriters, investment, legal, and operations) to deliver competitive and profitable quotes.
  • Perform experience studies and contribute to mortality, retirement, and expense assumption setting.
  • Support the development and improvement of pricing tools and models.
  • Analyze transaction risks (longevity, interest rate, reinvestment, operational) and propose risk mitigation strategies.
  • Communicate pricing results and risks to senior actuaries and business leadership.
  • Work with external stakeholders including consultants, plan sponsors, and reinsurers to support PRT transactions.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory, economic, and market developments affecting pension risk transfer.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
  • 4–7 years of actuarial experience, with 2+ years in pension risk transfer, retirement, or group annuities.
  • Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) required; near-Fellow (FSA) preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel, VBA, and actuarial modeling tools (e.g., AXIS, MoSes, Prophet, or internal systems).
  • Strong understanding of defined benefit plans and annuity pricing.
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with LDI strategies, investment modeling, or asset-liability matching.
  • Familiarity with IRS regulations, ERISA, and accounting implications (GAAP/STAT) for pension obligations.
  • Knowledge of current market trends and competitor activity in U.S. PRT.
