Job summary

Meyer Jabara Hotels, LLC is seeking a Preventive Maintenance Technician at the Hyatt Place Flushing/LaGuardia Airport Hotel. The role focuses on proactive maintenance of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related systems to ensure safety, reliability, and guest comfort.

Experience with Hyatt BOB is preferred. Candidates should be able to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and collaborate with the Engineering team on capital projects.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a maintenance engineer, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
• Experience with maintenance management software (Hyatt BOB a plus).
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Relevant certifications or technical training in mechanical, electrical, or facilities maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on hotel systems including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, elevators, kitchen equipment, and guest room appliances.
• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and plumbing issues promptly.
• Implement and maintain preventive maintenance schedules to reduce equipment failures and emergency repairs.
• Collaborate with the Engineering team to plan and execute capital improvement projects.
• Respond promptly to guest and staff maintenance requests, ensuring minimal disruption to hotel operations.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards.
• Maintain inventory of tools, parts, and supplies necessary for preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
• Provide guidance and training to junior engineering staff, as needed.
• Utilize maintenance management systems, such as Hyatt BOB, to track work orders and generate reports.

Job Title: Preventive Maintenance Technician

Reports To: Chief Engineer / Director of Engineering

Position Summary

The Preventive Maintenance Engineer ensures the proper functioning, safety, and efficiency of all hotel facilities, equipment, and systems through proactive maintenance, inspections, and repairs. This role emphasizes preventive measures to minimize downtime, extend the life of assets, and maintain an exceptional guest experience. Experience with Hyatt's BOB platform is preferred but not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine preventive maintenance on all hotel systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, elevators, kitchen equipment, and guest room appliances.
