Job summary

Smith & Wesson in Maryville, TN is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance on CNC and other machinery. The role includes troubleshooting, component replacement, and maintaining PM records.

You will assist technicians and operate across the facility maintenance spectrum, following strict safety protocols in a high-noise manufacturing setting. You must be able to work various shifts, tolerate overtime, and access overhead areas and confined spaces as needed to

Qualifications

• Duties require decision making in troubleshooting and choosing solutions to problems not normally encountered.
• Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Must have mechanical aptitude and capability.
• Must have prior maintenance experience on large equipment, mechanically or electronically.
• Willing to work any shift and overtime as required.
• Ability to climb in overhead structures and work in tight spaces while analyzing and repairing.

Responsibilities

• Engage in preventive maintenance of all machinery, including fluid and filter changes, cleaning, and PMs.
• Identify and replace worn components before mechanical breakdown.
• Maintain preventive maintenance readings on all equipment.
• Assist technicians or mechanics as needed.
• Perform Ball bar testing on CNC equipment; maintain tools and records for PMs.
• Work across all aspects of facility maintenance.

Job description

• Essential duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
• Engaging in the preventive maintenance of all machinery i.e.; fluid changes, filter changes, cleaning, trouble-shooting & preventative maintenance (PM) of machinery Identify & replace worn components before mechanical breakdown
• Maintain preventative maintenance readings on all equipment
• Assisting technicians or mechanics as needed
• Perform Ball bar testing on any/all CNC equipment Maintain Tools, equipment and record keeping for performing PM's
• Work in all aspects of Facility Maintenance

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Duties require decision making in regard to trouble shooting (problem identification) and the proper selection of solutions to problems not normally encountered; employees must determine appropriate actions to be taken to achieve required results
• Experience with and ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Must have mechanical ability and aptitude
• Must have prior maintenance experience working on large equipment either mechanically or electronically
• Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment Willing to work any shift and overtime as required
• Ability to climb in overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work
• Must be highly safety conscious
• Position involves exposure to high voltage electricity
• Must possess valid DOT card and S&W fork truck license.
• Must be able to successfully demonstrate mechanical ability through a comprehensive interview process

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• High School/GED, Degree requirements, prior experience in a manufacturing environment:
• Must be able to read, write and interpret English language
• Basic computer skills preferred

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Complete all company mandated training as required Participate in and follow all company initiatives Must successfully complete all technical, administrative, and interpersonal training programs to satisfy Participative Work Team objectives and become a multi-skilled team member

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Continuous: standing, walking, lifting, bending, pushing/pulling, and reaching. Occasional: kneeling, sitting, squatting, overhead work, fine and gross upper body motor movement Maximum lift: to 50 pounds and assisted lifting Occasional lifting: 0 to 50 pounds

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work environment is similar to most manufacturing operations. Will be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with moving around machinery, work in confined quarters, exposed to vibrations and shop lighting
