Job summary

Whataburger is seeking a Preventative Restaurant Maintenance Technician to keep our Arlington, Dallas-area restaurants safe and reliable. You will perform scheduled maintenance on HVAC, refrigeration, kitchen systems, and building components while ensuring work orders are completed accurately and on time.

You will travel regionally, support 40–45 restaurants, and use mobile tools to manage tasks. Strong troubleshooting, time management, and customer service are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent work experience.
• Ability to travel locally and long distances (including air travel).
• Knowledge of HVAC, refrigeration, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair commercial kitchen and facility equipment.
• Strong problem-solving and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced multi-location environment.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Valid driver''s license and ability to meet Whataburger MVR standards.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work on ladders/roofs safely.

Responsibilities

• Support an average of 40-45 restaurants.
• Work an average of 42 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC, refrigeration, kitchen equipment, beverage stations and facility systems.
• Complete routine maintenance tasks, service calls, and cosmetic repairs to maintain brand standards.
• Perform basic troubleshooting and inspections to identify issues early; escalate major repairs as needed.
• Execute and manage maintenance work orders accurately and on time using mobile systems.
• Respond to restaurant maintenance needs and service requests to minimize downtime.
• Perform maintenance across electrical, plumbing, and general facility systems.
• Maintain parts inventory, tools, and a clean, organized work environment, including company vehicle.
• Communicate with Restaurant and MSC Leadership and ensure safety/compliance.

As a Preventative Restaurant Maintenance Technician, you will:

• Support an average of 40-45 restaurants.

• Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on HVAC, refrigeration, commercial kitchen equipment, beverage stations and facility systems to ensure safe and reliable operation.

• Execute and manage assigned maintenance work orders accurately and on time using mobile technology and work order systems, in alignment with service level expectations.
• Respond to restaurant maintenance needs and service requests to help minimize equipment downtime and operational disruptions.
• Perform maintenance tasks across electrical, plumbing, and general facility systems within defined scope.
• Maintain parts inventory, tools, and a clean, organized work environment, including company vehicle.
• Communicate effectively with Restaurant and MSC Leadership and ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company standards.

This role is field based, supporting restaurants across an assigned market or region. You’ll travel frequently to partner with Operations, provide onsite support, and maintain strong relationships with leaders and teams in the field. Success in this role requires full-time availability, flexibility to adjust to evolving operational priorities, and the ability to travel regularly including day trips, overnight travel, and extended market visits. While most travel will occur within your assigned market or region, some out-of-market support may be required based on business needs.

Candidates must reside within the region they support and be able to travel throughout that area as needed.
