Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health is seeking a Director of Preventative Cardiovascular Medicine and Rehabilitation within the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology. The role coordinates clinical education, research, and community outreach for the Pauley Heart Center, focusing on prevention strategies and program accreditation.

Qualifications

• Must be a board-certified cardiologist.
• Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Virginia.
• Certification by American Heart Association in basic life support and advanced cardiac life support.
• Experience in rehabilitation programs and supervision of cardiopulmonary exercise testing with accreditation experience.
• Clinically oriented with research and teaching experience for academic appointment.
• Able to communicate effectively and work with a large multidisciplinary program.

Responsibilities

• Teaching: support teaching via fellows, housestaff, and non-physician professionals; present reviews at conferences; participate in CME programs.
• Research: develop institutional registry to track rehabilitation outcomes; collaborate with research faculty; support related protocols.
• Service: oversee quality, safety, and efficiency; stay abreast of regulatory developments; develop policies; supervise staff; ensure referral and enrollment; oversee ITP; track outcomes; attain program accreditation.
• Clinical: supervise CR program and stress testing; interpret cardiovascular tests; progress individual CR patients and coordinate ITP.
• Other: handle billing/documentation and promote prevention services to patients and providers.
