OMNI Youth Services | Buffalo Grove, IL

Full Time | $48,000 - 50,000 Annual Salary

OMNI Youth Services is the premier youth services agency in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and beyond. We have an excellent opportunity for a Prevention Specialist I to work under a state-funded substance use prevention grant (SUPS: Substance Use Prevention Services) delivering programming to middle and high schools in Vernon and Wheeling Townships. The substance of focus is alcohol, with additional work in opioid prevention.

This position will serve as a liaison to local schools, implementing grant deliverables and collaborating with the larger grant team to plan and prepare materials needed to achieve program objectives. There are also opportunities to work with other grant teams covering the same service area, expanding prevention efforts to include substances such as marijuana, nicotine, and emerging threats. Programming is data-driven, using the Illinois Youth Survey, focus groups, and anecdotal data to tailor initiatives to the specific needs of the schools served.

This position will work with community members and school personnel to develop mutually beneficial training and programs for teens, parents, and school staff. Responsibilities include planning and implementing training opportunities, outreach, and technical assistance; distributing messaging through email, social media, website, and trainings; and reporting on program performance while applying strategies for continuous quality improvement.

The ideal candidate will be able to work comfortably with a wide range of people, including youth, parents, school administrators, and community leaders. The candidate must possess a team-oriented mindset and a solid belief in experiential learning. Flexibility and the ability to adapt to change are critical.

Essential responsibilities:

• Assist with coordination of direct service initiatives
• Complete all grant required training within one year of hire, including additional professional development
• Implement evidence-based education programs and communication campaigns in three settings: middle school, high school, and community
• Assist with recruitment and facilitation of youth leadership programs
• Annual review of community assessments and resource guide
• Implementation of youth prevention education curriculums in schools in accordance with best practices and program deliverables
• Maintain records of monthly SUPS deliverables and provide a digital log of all outreach that will be used to complete required reports monthly, quarterly, and annually
• Introduce OMNI programs, services, and initiatives including counseling and resource center to school and community partners
• Ability to effectively manage working on a team project and meeting team deadlines.
• Perform other duties which may be assigned to support the agency’s mission.
