Job summary

Council on Recovery in Houston seeks a Youth Prevention Counselor to deliver prevention services to youth and families in Houston and surrounding areas. The role reports to the Program Manager and collaborates with staff to support daily operations.

You will provide alcohol and other drug prevention education, document activities, conduct surveys, and prepare weekly reports while coordinating referrals to community resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services related discipline.
• Experience facilitating groups of children.
• Classroom management skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide alcohol and other drug abuse prevention services to youth and their family members residing in the Houston, Harris County, including drug education and information presentations as needed.
• Documents activities, administer survey questionnaires to program participants, facilitate tobacco retail compliance checks, and compiles weekly statistical reports on services provided.
• Respond to requests for information and makes appropriate referrals to community resources.
• Is available to provide prevention services 37.5 hours per week as assigned, adjusting schedule as needed to accommodate needs of community participants.
• Inventories and maintains program supplies.
• All other duties as assigned.

Education

Requirements

Education
