Job summary

Rosecrance Champaign Walnut is seeking a Prevention Specialist to design, develop and present evidence-based curricula on substance use prevention to students and community groups. You’ll collaborate with schools, parents, and organizations to advance prevention programming and measure outcomes.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, a valid Illinois driver's license, and strong public speaking and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Present designated evidence-based curriculum to students in kindergarten through twelfth grade.
  • Design and develop presentations on substance abuse.
  • Initiate and develop contact with organizations and target groups to promote Rosecrance’s Prevention program.
  • Provide technical assistance and consultation on alcohol and other drug related issues to schools and community groups.
  • Network with local and state youth-serving organizations to market prevention program offerings.
  • Work with Prevention staff to develop and implement new prevention programming and materials.
  • Accurately complete required reports, documentation, and outcomes evaluation tools.
  • Represent Rosecrance and the Prevention program at community functions such as health fairs and workshops.
  • Stay informed on local, state, and national Prevention programs and trends.
  • Attend assigned training sessions.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in social work, psychology, community health, or related field

Position Summary

The Prevention Specialist designs, develops, and gives presentations on subjects related to substance use, it's prevention, and its treatment. Evidence based curriculum, along with additional presentations, are used to present to a variety of community audiences, including in local schools, civic, and church organizations. This is done as part of the overall work to accomplish goals and objectives articulated by various funding proposals.

  • Provides technical assistance and consultation services concerning alcohol and other drug related issues to schools, community groups, and others.
  • Networks with local and state youth-serving organizations, including marketing to inform them of Prevention program offerings.
  • Works with other Prevention staff to facilitate the development and implementation of new prevention programming and educational materials.
  • Accurately completes required reports, documentation, and outcomes evaluation tools.
  • Professionally represents Rosecrance and the Prevention program, presenting at assigned community functions such as health fairs and educational workshops for professionals, volunteers, and community groups.
  • Stays abreast of local, state, and national Prevention programs, trends, research, and other relevant information.
  • Attends assigned training sessions.

  • Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm

Compensation
  • Starting Pay: $46,800 (based on education, experience, and credentials)
