Job summary

Shenandoah Valley Social Services seeks a Family Services SpecialistIII in the Prevention unit. The role supports families with high risk factors identified through CPS or assessments, ensuring child safety and permanency within the home or relative caregiver networks.

The position requires coordinating services, engaging with community partners, evaluating needs, and maintaining detailed documentation. Some after-hours work and on-call duties may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field with at least two years of related experience.
• Considerable knowledge of social work principles and practices as described in the role.
• Possession of a BSW or MSW is desirable and preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct home visits and assess safety risk factors and service needs.
• Coordinate and participate in Family Partnership and other key meetings.
• Develop and implement service plans for children and caregivers.
• Attend court hearings and testify as needed.
• Collaborate with community agencies to meet family needs.
• Ensure timely documentation of all interactions and activities.
• Complete Family Assessments when abuse/neglect allegations exist; provide on-call coverage as needed.
