Job description

The Prevention & Education Coordinator is responsible for scheduling and facilitating Zacharias

Sexual Abuse Center’s school based prevention education, community education, and

professional training for English-speaking and/or Spanish-speaking groups within ZCenter’s

service area. This includes providing information and awareness presentations to students,

school professionals, and parents. Provide training and support to new volunteers and interns.

Provide direct services to clients through support line and medical advocacy.

SALARY RANGE: $45,500 - $48,500

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Work closely with the Outreach Team to coordinate and facilitate community education, prevention education, outreach and advocacy programs.
  • Coordinate and facilitate prevention education programs for elementary, middle schools, high schools and college age students.
  • Schedule, coordinate and provide the TAPP & Sexual Harassment program, Parent Workshops, Community Education programs, as well as trainings for school personnel, in English and Spanish as necessary.
  • Coordinate and provide public education and information as it relates to sexual assault/abuse to the community sectors, i.e., groups, clubs, organizations, first responders, practitioners and educators.
  • Provide training, supervision and support to new volunteers and interns within the Outreach Team.
  • Assist with interviewing and volunteer/intern management. Participate in monthly volunteer meetings.
  • Facilitate prevention education section of the ZCenter 40-hour Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention training. Update training materials as needed.
  • Assist the Director of Community Services with the creation, implementation, and maintenance of the digital curriculum.
  • Collect, maintain and evaluate all statistical records and data as it relates to prevention and community education programs for multiple funding sources relative to direct service performed by position. Collect and analyze outcome measurements and evaluations to enhance the ongoing curriculum at least twice a year.
  • As a member of the Outreach team, support coverage for the 24-hour medical advocacy and support services programs when available. Provide direct service through support line, medical, and in-person crisis intervention in cooperation with other staff.
  • Maintain client confidentiality as required by state and federal law and ICASA standards.
  • Maintain client documentation as required by state and federal law and ICASA standards.
  • Identify and report child sexual abuse cases according to the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act (ANCRA).
  • Maintain a flexible schedule, to include nights or weekend work.
  • Assist the agency in implementing a diversity strategy that embraces all individuals and ensures that agency services are accessible to all clients, regardless of gender, race, language, ability, sexual orientation, religion, age, or socio-economic background.
  • Assist with agency events and other projects or task forces as assigned by the Director of Community Services, and/or the Executive Director.
  • With the entire staff, the Prevention & Education Coordinator will be responsible for quality service delivery throughout the agency. S/he will demonstrate a commitment to the mission and philosophy of ZCenter, which includes impacting on sexual assault/abuse, creating a society free from violence, and working in a cooperative environment. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Education, Social Work or related field and/or equivalent life experience.
  • Experience in the field of sexual assault/abuse, family violence, or community health.
  • Completion of 40-hour of Illinois Sexual Assault Crisis Intervention training.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills in developing and managing schedules, and working with volunteers.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, relationship-building, public speaking, education and training skills to groups of all ages.
  • Comfortable in a variety of environments & situations (i.e., schools, classrooms, auditoriums, parent groups, community forums, professional training venues)
  • Excellent verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Intercultural competency; Ability to accept, understand, and relate sensitively to people of varied socio-economic, racial, cultural, and experiential backgrounds.
  • Bilingual, multicultural (preferred, not required)
  • A feminist perspective of violence in our culture, including: (1) the understanding that sexual violence is connected to a much larger context of oppression and (2) a belief that sexual violence is rooted in our culture and not individual pathology.
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance and reliable personal transportation.
