Position Title: Prevention Coordinator Part-Time

Reports to: President/CEO

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Revision Date: 5/2/2025

Position Summary

The part-time coordinator shall work with the Center for Black Health and Equity (CBHE), CHAT, and community members to develop a community-driven approach to youth and adult menthol prevention and treatment. CHAT will engage the African American community to address the targeted promotion of tobacco products, particularly menthol-flavored tobacco, which leads to disproportionately high usage among African Americans and other priority populations. The coordinator shall demonstrate a friendly and professional attitude and appearance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Operational Duties:
2. Learn the history of the impact of menthol on the African American community.
3. Maintain communication between the Urban League, CBHE, and CHAT.
4. Develop a database of all individuals invited to participate.
5. Assist CBHE in scheduling, communications, preparing handouts, and recording minutes from meetings.
6. Assist CBHE in conducting community assessments.
7. Help clarify tasks, action items, and accountability measures.
8. Support CBHE in creating and distributing communication products and materials.
9. Work with media alongside CBHE, CHAT, and the Urban League.
10. Organize resource fairs and community events.
11. Prepare Quit Kits for community members.

Minimum Position Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Requirements include:

• At least 2 years of experience working with community coalitions involving diverse groups.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong organizational skills to coordinate meetings and maintain communication flow.
• Adaptability to schedule changes to meet participant needs.
• Strong social-emotional skills to manage interactions with multiple parties.

Preferred Experience/Education

Applicants with an AA or bachelor’s degree in social work, public health, sociology, education, psychology, or a similar field are preferred.
