Job summary

The University of South Dakota is seeking a Coordinator of Prevention Services and Addictions Counselor to develop and implement substance use and suicide prevention programs. You will manage prevention plans, present in residence halls and campus groups, supervise student staff, and collaborate on task forces. If licensed, up to 35% of time may be direct clinical work.

Evening/weekend work and state travel are required; knowledge of grant processes is a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with addiction counseling specialization.
• SD Board approved basic courses for trainee Addictions Counseling.
• Preferred certified/licensed Addictions Counselor in SD.

Responsibilities

• Plan and carry out substance use and suicide prevention initiatives.
• Create and manage the prevention work-plan and deliver public presentations.
• Supervise student staff and prevention para‑professionals.
• Oversee prevention programming delivery and grant processes.
• Occasional after‑hours presentations and state travel as needed.
