Boston Government Services, LLC (BGS) is seeking a Preventive Maintenance Planner to coordinate preventive and condition-based maintenance at the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

The planner develops detailed work packages, manages permits, and maintains CMMS records, collaborating with the Reliability Engineer and Maintenance Supervisor to improve reliability and safety across critical assets.

Qualifications

• High School diploma plus 3–5+ years in industrial maintenance
• Experience with mechanical or electrical systems preferred
• CMMS proficiency, preferably SAP
• U.S. citizen and eligible for security clearance
• Successful drug screening

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed, standardized work packages for preventive maintenance.
• Write clear work instructions with scope, sequence, and resources.
• Identify all parts, tools, and materials required for each work order.
• Perform field walk-downs to scope jobs and assess hazards.
• Identify required safety permits including LOTO and JHA.
• Incorporate safety protocols and hazard analyses into every work package.
• Ensure timely close-out of work packages in CMMS after completion.
• Collaborate with site Reliability Engineer to refine PM strategies for critical assets.
• Incorporate feedback from technicians and supervisors to improve PM plans.

Where You’ll Work:

The Y12 National Security Complex located in Oak Ridge, TN, plays a vital role in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Nuclear Security Enterprise. Y-12 provides manufacturing, technical, and scientific expertise to produce components, subassemblies, and quality evaluations to sustain a U.S. nuclear deterrent; reduce the threat from weapons of mass destruction; supply nuclear material to the Naval Reactors Program; and provide solutions to other emerging national security challenges. Y-12 has developed state‑of‑the‑art capabilities in three core areas: nuclear technology and materials, security and consequence management, and manufacturing and technical services. Y-12 lends its specialized expertise to other federal agencies, such as the U.S. Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, state and local governments, and private‑sector companies. Projects at Y-12 include providing protective equipment to soldiers in combat, training National Guard units for radiological emergencies, and creating machining platforms that improve production and efficiency.

About the Role:

The Preventive Maintenance (PM) Planner is responsible for the strategic planning and coordination of all preventive and condition based maintenance activities within the facility. This role focuses on improving equipment reliability and ensuring the safe and efficient execution of maintenance work. The planner will develop comprehensive work packages, manage necessary permits, and maintain accurate records within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). This position requires close collaboration with the facility's Reliability Engineer and Maintenance Supervisor to continuously optimize maintenance strategies.

Responsibilities:

• Develop detailed and standardized work packages for preventive maintenance.
• Write clear and concise work instructions, outlining the scope, sequence of tasks, and required resources for each job.
• Identify and list all necessary parts, tools, materials, and specialized equipment required for each work order to ensure craft/technicians have everything they need before a job begins.
• Perform field walk‑downs to scope jobs, identify potential hazards, and ensure work packages accurately reflect field conditions.
• Identify all required safety permits for planned maintenance jobs, including but not limited to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and Job Hazard Analysis.
• Incorporate clear safety protocols and hazard analyses into every work package to ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures.
• Ensure timely and accurate close‑out of all work packages in the CMMS upon job completion.
• Work in close partnership with the site Reliability Engineer to analyze equipment history and refine PM strategies for critical assets.
• Incorporate feedback from maintenance technicians and supervisors to continuously improve the quality, accuracy, and effectiveness of PM job plans.
• Organizational Skills: Exceptional organizational and time‑management skills with the ability to manage a large backlog and balance multiple priorities.
• Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
• Safety Knowledge: In‑depth knowledge of industrial safety procedures, particularly Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• High School diploma and 3-5+ years of experience in an industrial maintenance environment, either as a technician, lead, or planner. Hands‑on experience with mechanical or electrical systems is highly preferred.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, maintenance practices, and equipment operation.
• CMMS Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is essential, preferably SAP.
• Must be a U.S. citizen.
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.
• Successful drug screening.

Preferred Qualifications:

• SAP experience.

Location/Work Arrangement:

• This position is a fully onsite position at the Y12 National Security Complex in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
• Schedule is full-time, Monday – Friday 40-hour week.
