Job Description

The Preventive Maintenance Technician ensures the physical safety, operational efficiency, and aesthetic quality of the hotel by conducting scheduled inspections and routine servicing of guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house equipment. Unlike reactive maintenance (fixing things after they break), this role focuses on proactive upkeep to extend asset lifecycles and maintain high guest satisfaction scores.

Key Responsibilities
Guest Room Preventive Maintenance
  • Conduct scheduled room‑by‑room maintenance rounds (checking HVAC units, filters, coils, and thermostats).
  • Inspect furniture, fixtures, and equipment (FF&E) for wear, tightening loose parts, touching up paint, and repairing minor wall or vinyl damage.
  • Test all in‑room electronics, including televisions, lighting controls, outlets, and door locks.
  • Inspect and repair bathroom grouting, caulking, running toilets, and slow drains.
  • Flip and inspect mattresses, adjust bed frames, and check window operations and drapes.
Public Areas & Facility Upkeep
  • Perform routine checks in lobbies, hallways, meeting rooms, and fitness centers.
  • Inspect and maintain pool, spa, and recreational equipment according to manufacturer specifications and health department codes.
  • Check exterior lighting, signage, and grounds infrastructure regularly.
  • Perform minor cosmetic touch‑ups, such as replacing ceiling tiles or repairing wallpaper.
Mechanical & Equipment Servicing
  • Assist in servicing major hotel systems, including commercial laundry equipment, kitchen appliances, and boilers.
  • Clean and change lint filters, grease traps, and air intake vents to eliminate fire risks and energy waste.
  • Monitor and record meter or gauge readings as required by engineering standards.
Safety & Compliance
  • Adhere strictly to OSHA standards, Hazardous Material Management Programs, and proper chemical handling.
  • Maintain working knowledge of Fire Alarms and Life Safety systems, assisting during emergency drills or protocols.
  • Wear assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and report any safety hazards immediately to engineering management.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
  • Experience: 6 months to 1 year of hands‑on experience in general building maintenance, engineering, or hospitality operations.
  • Technical Skills: Basic working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC troubleshooting.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to bend, stoop, pull, reach overhead, and lift/push up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Soft Skills: Strong time‑management skills, independent work ethic, and professional customer service presentation when interacting with hotel guests.
