Job summary

Blue Ridge Court Services is seeking a pretrial officer to investigate and supervise pretrial defendants referred by the courts in Rockbridge County, Lexington and Buena Vista, with duties including screening detainees and preparing pretrial reports for courts. A bachelor's degree in psychology, sociology, social work or criminal justice is required.

Strong computer skills and excellent written and verbal communications are essential.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and supervise pretrial defendants referred by the courts of Rockbridge County, Lexington and Buena Vista.
• Screen and interview individuals detained in Rockbridge Regional Jail for possible referral.
• Prepare pretrial reports for courts and maintain files, statistics and reports.
• Supervise defendants and maintain comprehensive case files with accurate records.
• Position stationed in the Lexington office.
