Job summary

Alachua County Department of Court Services is seeking a responsible, professional criminal justice officer to supervise pretrial defendants and offenders in the Alachua County area.

This position requires a Bachelor's degree, Florida driver's license, and certification requirements; it involves court appearances, risk assessments, and collaboration with partners to ensure compliant release and supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, behavioral sciences, social work, counseling or related field and two years of related, professional experience; or any equivalent combination of related training and experience.
• Valid Florida Driver License required; Motor Vehicle Record must meet Alachua County policy #6-7.
• Must obtain FDLE CJIS Certification within one month; CPSP certification for Court Officers in Pretrial within one year.
• Successful completion of background checks pre-hire and ongoing.
• Work as a professional in criminal justice, supervising pretrial defendants and sentenced offenders.

Responsibilities

• Exhibits positive customer service focus.
• Conducts screens and assessments for risk and need.
• Develops release and supervision plans to mitigate risk.
• Supervises pretrial and probation caseloads and conducts investigations.
• Represents the Department at Court proceedings and liaises with court and agencies.
• Prepares confidential records and written work with high attention to detail.
