Salt Lake County invites you to explore our exciting career opportunities in public safety. The role conducts booking interviews with defendants in the Salt Lake County Metro Jail to determine Pretrial release options and inform court status.

It requires carrying out court-ordered releases and explaining supervision requirements. The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree in a related field and can obtain jail security clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a related field; case management/ social services experience.
• Must obtain jail security clearance.
• Background check including RAP Back enrollment.
• Experience with underrepresented communities preferred.
• Second language ability preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meets with defendants and conducts interviews to determine Pretrial eligibility.
• Verifies information by contacting associates and family.
• Informs defendants of release options and court status.
• Documents release decisions in the case management system.
• Calculates Public Safety Assessment to set supervision level.
• Updates PSA scores in Utah Courts database.
• Communicates recommendations to judges or screeners with release conditions.
• Transmits release information to jail liaison and court jurisdiction.
• Interacts with law enforcement, attorneys, jail and court staff with confidentiality.
• Responds to inquiries from incarcerated defendants about eligibility/case status.
• Counsels defendants on initiating Pretrial Supervision and access to services.
