General Summary & Scope

The Prestige Beauty Advisor (PBA) is responsible for maximizing sales in the prestige category (color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their needs and assisting in the selection and purchase of prestige merchandise, while following all company policies and procedures. Responsibilities include maintaining store standards, supporting the Sales Manager through performance, people, and process focus, and demonstrating a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and product knowledge.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The PBA performs duties aligned with Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, including:

Performance

• Contributing to meeting or exceeding sales and loyalty goals, especially in the prestige category.
• Providing exceptional guest service, including greeting, engaging, personalizing service, and informing guests of promotions and services.
• Handling sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
• Performing makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales.
• Supporting in-store events and appointments to enhance guest experience.
• Staying informed about industry trends, products, and ingredients to better serve guests.

People

• Fostering an inclusive environment supporting teammates and guests.
• Collaborating with management and staff to grow the business.
• Participating in ongoing training to develop product knowledge and sales skills.

Process

• Ensuring compliance with company policies and standards.
• Maintaining store cleanliness and operational standards.
• Participating in merchandise resets, inventory, and shipment processing.
• Promoting the guest loyalty program and protecting company assets.

Job Qualifications

Education: High school diploma preferred; cosmetology, esthetician, or demonstrator’s license where required by law.

Experience: 1 year relevant experience or equivalent education and experience preferred.

Skills: Passion for prestige products, guest service, selling, relationship building, communication skills, ability to work independently and in a team.

Position Requirements

• Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, holidays.
• Participation in meetings and conferences, including overnight stays.

Working Conditions

• Frequent movement, standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 10 lbs.
