General Summary & Scope

The Prestige Beauty Advisor (PBA) is responsible for maximizing sales in the prestige category (color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their needs and assisting in the selection and purchase of prestige merchandise, while following all company policies and procedures. Responsibilities include maintaining store standards, supporting the Sales Manager through performance, people, and process focus, and possessing a passion for the beauty industry and guest service.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The PBA demonstrates Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values through:

Performance
  • Contributing to meeting or exceeding sales goals related to retail, service, guest loyalty, and omni-channel sales, especially in the prestige category.
  • Providing exceptional guest service, including greeting, engaging, personalizing service, recommending products, and informing guests of promotions.
  • Handling sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
  • Performing makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
  • Supporting in-store events and appointments to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
  • Staying informed on industry trends, products, and ingredients to better serve guests.
  • Maintaining regular attendance.
People
  • Supporting an inclusive environment for teammates and guests.
  • Collaborating with store team to grow the business.
  • Participating in ongoing training to develop skills and boost sales performance.
Process
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and standards.
  • Adhering to dress code.
  • Maintaining work area, ensuring product replenishment, hygiene, and operational standards.
  • Participating in merchandise resets, inventory, and shipment processing.
  • Promoting the guest loyalty program and protecting company assets.
  • Executing other operational tasks as directed.
Job Qualifications
Education
  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Cosmetology, esthetician, or demonstrator’s license as required by law.
Experience
  • 1 year relevant work experience or equivalent preferred.
Skills
  • Passion and competency in prestige products, guest service, and selling.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
Special Position Requirements
  • Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Attendance at meetings and conferences, including overnight stays.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent mobility and standing throughout shift.
  • Physical activities including bending, reaching, lifting up to 10 lbs, and object manipulation.
