General Summary & Scope

The Prestige Beauty Advisor (PBA) is responsible for maximizing sales in the prestige category (color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their individual needs and assisting guests in the selection and purchase of prestige merchandise, while following all company policies and procedures. All responsibilities are done while maintaining overall store standards, including cleanliness and replenishment. This position supports the Sales Manager (SM) through a focus on performance (service/retail sales and in-store events), people (guest service and associate culture), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards). This position requires a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the aptitude to learn and communicate product knowledge.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The PBA is a champion of Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, demonstrating them skillfully and consistently through:

Performance
  • Contributing to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, retail shrink, and omni-channel sales, especially in the prestige category and iconic brands.
  • Ensuring each guest receives exceptional service by greeting, engaging, personalizing service, recommending products, and informing about promotions, events, and services.
  • Handling sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
  • Performing makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
  • Booking appointments and supporting in-store events to deliver an outstanding guest experience and meet sales goals.
  • Staying informed about industry trends, products, and ingredients to better serve guests.
  • Maintaining prompt and regular attendance.
People
  • Supporting an inclusive environment for teammates and guests.
  • Collaborating with managers and associates to grow the business.
  • Participating in ongoing training and education to develop professionally and improve sales performance.
Process
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, standards, and dress code.
  • Driving sales through proper maintenance of work areas, replenishment, and hygiene standards.
  • Maintaining store operational standards, including cleanliness and organization.
  • Participating in merchandise resets, planograms, marketing displays, inventory, and shipment processing.
  • Sharing information about the guest loyalty program and protecting company assets.
  • Executing other operational tasks as directed.
Job Qualifications
Education
  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Cosmetology, esthetician, or demonstrator’s license required by state law where applicable.
Experience
  • 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience preferred.
Skills
  • Passion and competency for prestige products, guest service, and selling.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent communication skills.
Special Position Requirements
  • Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Attendance at meetings and conferences, including overnight stays.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent movement throughout the store during shifts.
  • Standing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, twisting.
  • Handling objects up to 10 lbs. regularly.
  • Coordination and manipulation of objects during shifts.
