General Summary & Scope

The Prestige Beauty Advisor (PBA) is responsible for maximizing sales in the prestige category (color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their needs and assisting in the selection and purchase of prestige merchandise, while following all company policies and procedures. Responsibilities include maintaining store standards, supporting the Sales Manager through performance, people, and process focus, and demonstrating a passion for the beauty industry and exceptional guest service.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The PBA performs duties aligned with Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, including:

Performance
  • Contributing to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and omni-channel sales, especially in the prestige category.
  • Providing exceptional guest service through greeting, engaging, personalizing service, recommending products, and informing guests of promotions and events.
  • Handling sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
  • Performing makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
  • Booking appointments and supporting in-store events to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
  • Staying informed about industry trends, products, and ingredients to better serve guests.
  • Maintaining prompt and regular attendance.
People
  • Supporting an inclusive environment for teammates and guests.
  • Collaborating with managers and associates to grow the business.
  • Participating in ongoing training to enhance product knowledge and sales performance.
Process
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, standards, and dress code.
  • Keeping the work area replenished, signed, faced, and hygienic.
  • Maintaining store cleanliness and operational standards.
  • Participating in merchandise resets, inventory, and shipment processing.
  • Sharing the benefits of loyalty programs with guests.
  • Following loss prevention practices and executing operational tasks as directed.
Job Qualifications

Education

  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Cosmetology, esthetician, or demonstrator’s license required where applicable.

Experience

  • 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience preferred.

Skills

  • Passion for prestige products, guest service, and sales.
  • Strong relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Special Position Requirements

  • Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Attendance at meetings and conferences, including overnight stays.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent mobility and standing during shifts.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 lbs. and manipulate objects continuously.
