General Summary & Scope

The Prestige Beauty Advisor (PBA) is responsible for maximizing sales in the prestige category (color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their needs and assisting in the selection and purchase of prestige merchandise, while following all company policies and procedures. Responsibilities include maintaining store standards, supporting the Sales Manager through performance, people, and process focus, and demonstrating a passion for the beauty industry and guest service.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The PBA champions Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, performing duties including:

Performance

• Contribute to meeting or exceeding sales goals related to retail, service, guest loyalty, and omni-channel sales, especially in the prestige category.
• Provide exceptional guest service, including greeting, engaging, personalizing service, recommending products, and informing guests of promotions and events.
• Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
• Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
• Book appointments and support in-store events to deliver outstanding guest experiences.
• Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services, and communicate product knowledge effectively.
• Maintain prompt and regular attendance.

People

• Support an inclusive environment for teammates and guests.
• Collaborate with store management and staff to grow the business.
• Participate in ongoing training to develop product knowledge and sales skills.

Process

• Ensure compliance with company policies and standards.
• Adhere to dress code.
• Keep work areas replenished, signed, faced, and maintain hygiene standards.
• Participate in merchandise resets, inventory, and shipment processing.
• Promote guest loyalty programs and protect company assets.
• Perform other operational tasks as needed.

Job Qualifications

Education

• High school diploma preferred.
• Cosmetology, esthetician, or demonstrator’s license as required by law.

Experience

• 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent education and experience preferred.

Skills

• Passion for prestige products, guest service, and selling.
• Ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Strong communication skills.

Special Position Requirements

• Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Attend meetings and conferences, including overnight stays.

Working Conditions

• Frequent mobility and standing throughout the shift.
• Handling objects weighing up to 10 lbs.
• Engagement in physical activities during shift.
