General Summary & Scope

The Prestige Beauty Advisor (PBA) is responsible for maximizing sales in the prestige category (color cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance) by engaging guests to determine their individual needs and assisting guests in the selection and purchase of prestige merchandise, while following all company policies and procedures. All responsibilities are done while maintaining overall store standards, including cleanliness and replenishment. This position supports the Sales Manager (SM) through a focus on performance (service/retail sales and in-store events), people (guest service and associate culture), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards). This position requires a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the aptitude to learn and communicate product knowledge.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The PBA is a champion of Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, demonstrating them skillfully and consistently through the following duties and responsibilities:

Performance
  • Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, retail shrink, and omni-channel sales, especially in the prestige category and iconic brands.
  • Ensure each guest receives exceptional service by greeting, engaging, personalizing service, recommending products, and informing about promotions and events.
  • Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
  • Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
  • Book appointments and support in-store events to deliver an outstanding guest experience while meeting sales goals.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services, and communicate their benefits to guests.
  • Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
People
  • Support an inclusive environment for teammates, peers, and guests.
  • Collaborate with managers and associates to grow the business.
  • Participate in ongoing training to develop product knowledge and sales skills.
Process
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Adhere to dress code.
  • Maintain the prestige and iconic brand work area, replenishing and signing products, and maintaining hygiene standards for testers.
  • Participate in merchandise resets, planograms, displays, inventory procedures, and shipment processing.
  • Promote the guest loyalty program and company assets.
  • Follow loss prevention practices and execute operational tasks as directed.
Job Qualifications
Education
  • High school diploma preferred.
  • Cosmetology, esthetician, or demonstrator’s license required by law where applicable.
Experience
  • 1 year relevant experience or equivalent education and experience preferred.
Skills
  • Passion for prestige products, guest service, and selling.
  • Ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Strong communication skills.
Special Position Requirements
  • Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Attend meetings and conferences, including overnight stays.
Working Conditions
  • Frequent movement throughout the store.
  • Standing, bending, reaching, and lifting up to 10 lbs. regularly.
  • Continuous object manipulation.
