Job summary

Mason Manufacturing, LLC in Decatur, IL is seeking a Machine Operator to work on a range of custom fabricated pressure vessels. You will roll plate, operate brake presses and saws, and perform welding in ASME Code environments.

Candidates with plasma cutting experience and blueprint reading skills will excel. Safety, teamwork, and a willingness to learn are essential in this position.

Qualifications

  • Experience in plate rolling, brake press, shear, plasma cutting and welding.
  • ASME Code welding experience is highly desirable.
  • Proven welding of pressure vessels or large structures is a plus.
  • Reliable track record and good reading/math skills.
  • Team player with strong communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Roll plate to specified sizes up to 1" thick and 120" diameter.
  • Set up and operate brake press; assist as needed with sheet metal work.
  • Weld in ASME Code environments and read blueprints.
  • Operate plasma cutting and plate fabrication equipment.
  • Work safely within the quality control system and with teammates.
  • Attend competency training to read blueprints and understand ASME codes.

Machine Operator Position Overview

Our operators work on a wide variety of custom fabricated pressure vessels while working within a stable, predictable work schedule.

Operator Responsibilities & Duties
  • Operators roll plate in a variety of sizes including 3/16" thick up to 1" thick with up to 120" diameter
  • Welding experience is preferred
  • Experience preferred includes set-up and operation of brake press
  • Operators with experience with 1/2" sheer a plus
  • Work independently based on job specifications
  • Willingness to attain competency (we train) in:
  • Plasma cutting
  • Attaining the ability to read blueprints
  • Plate Lay-out
  • Attaining applicable weld certifications if needed
  • Attaining a basic understanding of applicable ASME Codes
  • Ability to operate within the company’s quality control system * Work collaboratively with teammates
  • Perform all work safely - be Safety Focused
Operator Qualifications & Skills
  • Previous work experience with plate rolling, brake press operation, shear operation, plasma cutting, and welding experience
  • Experience welding within an ASME Code environment, high desirable
  • Demonstrated skills welding pressure vessels, large structural products or equivalent, highly desirable
  • A track record for dependability
  • Has basic skills in math and reading
  • Is a team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
