Job summary

Qualifications

  • Check work against templates and reject out-of-spec products.
  • Maintain safe, clean work area and comply with SOPs.

Job description

The Machine Operator is responsible for operating one or more machines to perform simple, repetitive operations on standardized parts. Work is performed under close supervision and subject to strict process inspection procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Operate production line or welding machinery and/or computers; following verbal and written instructions
  • Ensure optimal functioning of production equipment and presses
  • Quickly and systematically troubleshoot machines and equipment
  • Detect and report faulty work and malfunction of machines and equipment
  • Check work to template, sample or fixed gauges; reject product outside of specifications
  • May change fixtures, adjust and regulate machines to obtain the best possible weld penetration, fill, weld quality and performance in accordance with standard operating procedures and supervisor approval or obvious irregularities
  • Communicate daily with supervisor and production support on issues and needs
  • Make recommendations to solve issues or upgrade machines or equipment
  • Support & implement process improvements for enhancing production and foster a team environment
  • Operate within Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) and Job Safety Standards
  • Operate forklift (will be certified on-site) to maintain raw material supply for production line
  • Clean and maintain work area
  • Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use
  • Complete a minimum of 1 work-related training session per year
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment (steel toe shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, welding jackets or sleeves)
  • Employ 5-S strategies & best practices in quality & production
  • Participate in group meetings
  • Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
  • Welding experience preferred, but not required
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic knowledge of operating equipment and machines
  • Basic reading, writing, and verbal communication skills required, normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year: Experience working in a manufacturing environment
  • 1 year: Welding experience preferred, but not required
