Job summary

Clemco is seeking a Pressure Vessel Builder for our Washington, MO facility. The role involves assembling pressure vessels, reading drawings, and working across blasting, pot prep, hydro room, and related areas to prepare products for delivery.

You will use machine tools and hand tools, operate forklifts and cranes, and ensure parts meet tolerances while adhering to safety rules in a non-climate controlled plant.

Qualifications

  • Physical strength and stamina are important.
  • Working knowledge of basic machine tools.
  • General aptitude for mechanics.
  • Conscientious about safety around a busy manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to read and apply electrical schematics, mechanical and/or electrical drawings and ladder diagrams within 60 days of hire.
  • Experience operating a forklift and overhead crane may be helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Use drawings and work instructions to prepare Clemco pressure vessels for customer use.
  • Rotate in blasting, pot prep, hydro room and other areas to ready vessels and other products.
  • Attach valves and external parts per drawings and instructions.
  • Pay attention to tolerances and alignment of external parts.
  • Apply labels, branding and logos to equipment.
  • Operate machine tools, hand tools, multimeters, tow motor, overhead crane, and forklifts as needed.
  • Assist with dismantling equipment after testing for shipping when necessary.
  • Pursue continuous quality improvements andLEAN activities.

Pressure Vessel Builder

Hours: Monday thru Friday 6:00 am to 2:20 pm with ½ hour for lunch. Overtime when needed.

Reports to: Production Supervisor

ESSENTIALS OF THE ROLE
  • Uses drawings and work instructions to help prepare Clemco pressure vessels for customer use
  • Rotates in several areas of the plant (blasting, pot prep, hydro room and other areas) to ready pressure vessels and other products to be delivered to end users
    • Attaches valves and other external parts of the pots using work instructions, videos and drawings to guide assembly
    • Pays close attention to required tolerances and direction of external parts
    • Applies labels, branding and logos to equipment
  • Sometimes works in large, enclosed blast room
    • Clemco provides personal protective equipment
    • Following safety rules is crucial
  • Takes pride in the quality of their work, our products and their ability to meet customer promised delivery times
  • Uses machine tools, hand tools, multimeters, tow motor, overhead crane and sometimes forklifts
  • Collaborates with others
  • May assist with dismantling equipment after it has been tested to assist in the shipping process when necessary
  • Proactively works to gain knowledge of other departments, troubleshooting standards or project equipment from drawings or sketches with the mentoring and guidance of more senior or highly skilled technicians
  • Seeks out and implements continuous quality improvements
  • Actively participates in LEAN activities such as PDCA, A-3, and Root Cause Analysis activities
  • Demonstrates flexibility when asked to take on new things

HELPFUL BUT CAN BE OBTAINED ON THE JOB:
  • Must be able to read and apply electrical schematics, mechanical and/or electrical drawings and ladder diagrams within 60 days of hire
  • Experience in operating a forklift and overhead crane may be helpful in some areas
JOB CONDITIONS:

Job is inside, but area is not climate controlled as tractor trailer delivery doors are open periodically throughout the day. Job requires nearly continual standing, moderate physical exertion and continuous attention to detail. As with any factory job, must follow established safety rules to prevent injury to self and others. Protective equipment, assistance with lifting, and respirators are provided by Clemco for jobs/tasks that require them. Lifting up to 50 pounds; help and appropriate protective equipment is available. Continuous mental and visual attention are required for safety and to maintain required tolerances.
