Job summary

Whirlpool Corporation in Clyde, Ohio is seeking a Set-Up Press & Weld technician to configure and run metal fabrication equipment, including stamping presses and automated welding cells. You will ensure tooling is installed correctly, machines are calibrated, and production parts meet specifications.

The role requires 3–5 years of setup/maintenance experience, a high school diploma or GED, and basic computer skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of equipment setup or maintenance in a high pace manufacturing environment.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Basic computer skills.

Responsibilities

• Press setup: install, align, and secure stamping dies; adjust ram stroke and feed systems to match part specs.
• Weld cell configuration: set up automated welding cells and adjust tips, gas flow, and wire speeds.
• Shear and roll level operation: set up and operate levelers and squaring shears to cut steel sheets to tolerances.
• Tooling & fixturing: install and calibrate weld fixtures and clamping systems; verify locating pins and sensors.
• Parameter adjustment: load CNC/PLC programs; adjust weld timers, current, and pressure settings.
• First-piece validation & inspection: run initial parts and perform inspections using calipers, micrometers, and destructive tests; halt on bad pieces.
• Safety systems: verify light curtains, gates, and E-stops are operational before starting machines; follow safety practices.
