Job summary

Whirlpool Corporation is seeking a skilled press setup and welding technician to configure and operate metal fabrication equipment at our Clyde, OH facility. You will install dies, align tooling, and optimize machine parameters to meet production schedules and quality standards.

The role involves configuring welding cells, adjusting gas flow and wire feed speeds, and performing first-piece inspections to ensure part integrity. A strong emphasis on safety and precise setup is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Basic computer skills or familiarity with standard software.
• Experience in equipment setup or maintenance in high pace manufacturing is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Press Setup: Install, align, and secure stamping dies into power presses; adjust ram stroke, shut height, and feed systems to match part specifications.
• Weld Cell Configuration: Set up automated welding cells; change tips, nozzles, and wire; adjust gas flow and wire feed speeds.
• Shear and Roll Level Operation: Set up and operate roll leveler and automatic shear; set controls, stops, and gauges for tight tolerances.
• Tooling & Fixturing: Install and calibrate weld fixtures and clamping systems; ensure sensors function and alignment.
• Parameter Adjustment: Load CNC/PLC programs; adjust weld timers, current, and pressure; optimize roll leveler settings.
• First-Piece Validation & Inspection: Run initial parts and perform inspections using calipers, micrometers, and destructive testing to verify integrity.
